Book of Dead Demo: What the Free Slot Client Shows
In short: Play'n GO's own demo opens without an account and shows the full paytable, the bet grid and the rules. What it does not show is a return figure: the public build carries no jurisdiction code.
You can read almost everything about this game for free, and the one number you came for is missing. Play'n GO's demo opens with no account and no deposit, and we ran two sessions in it. The paytable, the 250,000-coin ceiling and the whole rules text are there. The return percentage only appears when the build carries a jurisdiction code, and the public one does not.

- Game:
- Book of Dead
- Type:
- Video slot game
- RTP as published:
- Play'n GO publishes five RTP configurations for this title and lets the operator pick: 96.21% (default), 94.25%, 91.25%, 87.25% and 84.18%, printed as one table in the studio's own Game Rules and Settings document GRS0595, with the footnote that default values may vary by market.
- Max win:
- The client prints the ceiling in coins — «WIN UP TO 250000 COINS!» — and the multiplier is derived: 250,000 divided by the 50-coin maximum bet gives 5,000x.

The Demo Shows Almost Everything
The client opens on play money and gives you the complete paytable. Rich Wilde pays 5,000 for five on a line, the pharaoh 2,000, Anubis and Horus 750 each. The book pays 200 times the total bet for five. That distinction is printed on the paytable itself: total bet for the scatter, line bet for everything else. It is the thing most summaries get wrong.

You also get the bet grid in full. Three multipliers stack: coin value from 0.01 to 2.00, one to five coins per line, and one to ten lines. We walked the steppers to their stops and the range runs from 0.01 to 100.00.
The Number This Demo Hides
The return is the exception, and the reason is structural rather than coy. Play'n GO's client prints a return line only when the deployment carries a jurisdiction code. The public demo has none, so the figure simply is not there.

That means a demo session cannot tell you which of the five RTP configurations a casino is running. The studio publishes all five in its rules document — 96.21%, 94.25%, 91.25%, 87.25% and 84.18% — and the choice belongs to the operator.
Two Sessions, and What They Did Not Prove
We ran 46 paid spins in one session and 204 in another on , both at a 1.00 bet. The first returned 68.5%, the second 86.3%. Neither figure measures anything. A few hundred spins cannot test a long-run average, and anyone quoting a demo session as evidence of a return is misreading their own data.

What the sessions did show is the feature's shape. Both times the randomly chosen expanding symbol was the 10, the cheapest in the table, and both features retriggered. The demo also ends the session by itself, and the client keeps taking clicks for roughly 75 presses before it says so.
How to Read the Rules Screen Yourself
Open the demo, then the in-game rules, and page to the end. Four things are worth your attention. The line that the scatter is also wild, the gamble cap at 2,500 coins, and the absence of any return figure. The ceiling in coins is not in the rules at all: it sits at the end of the paytable.
Those four take about five minutes and leave you better informed than most reviews of this game, including about what the demo cannot answer.
Key Terms Used on This Page
- Jurisdiction code
- A market marker in the game deployment; without it, this client prints no return figure at all.
- Play money
- The demo balance the client grants, which cannot be withdrawn and does not change the game maths.
- Coin ceiling
- The maximum printed in coins — 250,000 here — rather than as a multiple of the bet.
- Retrigger
- Three more books inside the feature, which add 10 further free spins to the 10 the trigger awards.
Deposits and identity checks stay on the operator's own secure site.
What Else Do Readers Ask?
What people ask before opening the demo, and the honest answers.
Do you need an account for the Book of Dead demo?
No. Play'n GO's own client opens on play money with no registration and no deposit.
Does the demo show the RTP?
No. The public build carries no jurisdiction code, and the return line only appears when one is present.
Can a demo session tell you the real return?
No. Our sessions of 46 and 204 spins returned 68.5% and 86.3%, and neither measures a long-run average.
Is the maximum win visible in the demo?
Yes, as WIN UP TO 250000 COINS at the end of the paytable.
How do we test a demo client?
We open the studio's own client where one is served, read the paytable and the rules screens we manage to get through, and record what the screen prints; on Book of Dead we also walked the bet steppers to their stops. On Book of 99 that was five screens of about nine; on Book of Tut Megaways only the opening one.
